LIGHTING
&
LOCATION

are everything!

I get a lot of questions about where and the time of day I shoot. For many, they believe mid-day sun is the best and wonder why I don't schedule my shoots at noon. Or maybe they are concerned about a location because they visit it, and it just doesn't look pretty. What about the power lines or houses in the background?  I am intentional about every decision I make for a shoot.

What sets me apart from many other photographers is I bring my lights to a daytime photoshoot, and I am a skilled photo editor. Let me explain...
LIGHTING
It makes sense, you need light for a quality photos, so why not shoot at the brightest time of the day? Ah, like everything else, too much of a good thing isn't always great. Too much light creates harsh shadows that are not flattering. The angle of the sun matters too. Light directly overhead will create the worst shadows on the face and don't let the eyes sparkle.

Even with the right amount of sunlight, shadows can still happen. The skin will appear dull instead of bright and vibrant, the eyes are missing a spark. That is why I always bring a light and softbox to create the perfect lighting. See examples below:

ANOTHER EXAMPLE
You can see my set up in the cell phone photo her mom took. Notice how shadowed she is. I have her back to the sun so we can get that beautiful glowing sun behind her, but the front of her body is shadowed. My light is in front of her to remove the shadowing and make her skin glow and her eyes sparkle. Also, notice all the distractions far in the background: cars, people, power lines. Between the right positioning and editing, I am able to take a location that has some challenges and turn it into a stunning image that magnifies the beauty of both the subject and location.

NO WORRIES!
I bring skill and the right equipment to create all the magic you envision! Tell me what you want, and we will make it happen even if you have your doubts. Have questions, contact me, I would love to chat!  kimkisslophoto@gmail.com
